On 18th of November, at David Tvildiani Medical University, Gynecology interest group of Aieti’s (GIGA) second workshop was held. Workshop consisted of two parts, theoretical and practical. Theoretical part of the workshop encompassed in-depth description of the OB-GYN as a profession; its positive and negative aspects, as well as all the necessary steps that are to be taken towards becoming a certified OB-GYN doctor in United States. During practical part of the workshop, participants acquired necessary skills for conducting the proper pelvic examination, after which they proceeded to complete bimanual examination, speculum insertion, PAP smear and multiple types of vaginal swabbing on gynecological simulators. Lecture was held by DTMU student and founder of Gynecology Interest Group of Aieti, Mariam Jashi, while the pratical part was orchestrated by Mariam Jashi, Ana Metreveli, Gvantsa Kochiashvili, Ninutsa Kakabadze.
Organisational Group of GIGA, all the tutors who took part in the workshop and every active member, all are students of Davit Tvildiani Medical University.
Workshop which lasted for 4.5 hours was attended by 20 students ranging from 1st year students to 5th year students, all of whom were interested in Gynecology as a future choice of career.
Gynecology Interest Group of Aieti is a student organization, purpose of which is to spread accumulated knowledge and experience among all the interested parties, facilitating further progress in carrer. All the workshops that are to be held, besides student activities, may be conducted with the inclusion of specialists of the field.
