“What You Need to Know on Atrial Fibrillation and Thrmboembolism at the COVID-19 Pandemic Time”, and educational event was conducted by David Tvildiani Medical University on May 3, 2020. The event was organized in the frameworks of the international project titled “DeepRaft”. This is an educational and outreach research endeavor in four Eastern Europe countries (Greece, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine) for patients, doctors and healthcare policy makers. It aims at raising awareness, educating and affecting systemic change on diagnosis and treatment of Atrial Fibrillation (AF) and Venous thromboembolism (VTE). The current event aimed to educate first of all wider population, and initiate communication among stakeholders on how to address some of the most relevant and modifiable problems, including effective prevention and management, where patient-doctor communication takes a leading position. The event had three speakers: Assoc. Prof. George Chakhava, president of the Georgian Association of Medical Specialties, physician-arrhythmologist George Chkholaria, head of cardiology department at Kutaisi Central Hospital and Assoc. Prof. Ilia Nadareishvili, specializing in public health and epidemiology. The event was conducted in interactive manner, with each talk followed by discussions, questions and answers and case study discussions, using virtual patients developed in the frameworks of the same project.
