David Tvildiani University Graduate and Lecturer Dr. Nino Zavrashvili recently returned from Rochester, MN, United States where she had been invited by Mayo Clinic Associate Professor, Endocrinology Fellowship Program Co-director, Dr. Neena Natt. Dr. Zavrashvili had been working with the experts of diabetes, thyroid, bone and mineral, pituitary, gonad and adrenal diseases at the Mayo Clinic Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism.
During her visit Dr. Zavrashvili received Mayo Clinic Scholars Award. With her invitation the team of Mayo Clinic endocrinologists will soon visit Georgia. Mayo experts will conduct the course and seminars for Georgian doctors, students and residents.
Several years ago the Clinical Skills Course using standardized patients was developed at DTMU for the first time in Georgia with Dr. Zavrashvili supervision. The course teaches the history taking, physical exam and patient note writing skills involving the standardized actor “patients”. At the end of the course the main evaluators of the students are the simulatory patients in addition to the doctors. The special simulation and observation rooms have been developed and properly equipped for effective course conduction at DTMU.
