In about fifty centers across Europe, including Georgia, a prospective, observational, international, multicentre cohort study, recruiting 5000 patients with diabetes undergoing elective or emergency surgery “Management of European diabetic patients and solutions for perioperative care” is being conducted from 2022. (MOPED ā Management and Outcomes of Perioperative Care of European Diabetic Patients). The project is carried out under the auspices of the European Society of Anesthesia and Intensive Care (ESAIC) and its coordinator in Georgia is Davit Tvildiani Medical University Associate Professor Tamar Macharadze. Currently, there is no common practice guideline for the perioperative management of the diabetic patient undergoing surgery based on a large scale patient population. Neither is it known whether different strata of preoperative glycaemic control affects outcome. Accordingly, this scientific work serves to create a guideline for diabetic patients undergoing surgical intervention. The research is carried out in different clinics of Georgia and several students of Davit Tvildian Medical University are involved in it. Under the guidance of Tamar Macharadze, sixth-year student Tekla Natidze and fivth year student Elene Japaridze made independent poster reports at the annual conference “Geoanesthesia 2023” : 1. E. Japaridze, G. Janashvili, T. Samadashvili, G. Kachlishvili, T. Macharadze; “Outcome of diabetic patients after surgery” and 2. T. Natidze, G. Grigolia, K. Fruidze, T.
