Neurosurgical Symposium 2022
Tbilisi Neurosurgical Symposium 2022, organized by Walter E. Dandy Neurosurgical Club Georgia took place on November 5-6, 2022 at the Tbilisi State University.
David Tvildiani Medical University (DTMU) was one of the sponsors and supporters of the symposium.
DTMU students were also actively engaged in the organization of the symposium. Anano Nebieridze, Elene Japaridze, Mikheil Kharadze, Nino Pailodze, Mohammed Basheer, Ana Kiknadze, Nutsa Natroshvili, Navneeta Jayaprasad, and Lizi Kintsurashvili were actively involved in the marketing, scientific program creation and training for the workshop.
The scientific program for the Tbilisi Neurosurgical Symposium 2022 was much more diverse and included topics, such as neurology, psychiatry, neuroradiology, endocrinology, and much more. There were a total of 18 individual speakers, which included Georgian and foreign guests and professors. Some of the notable speakers were: Prof. Zaal Kokaia, Prof. Alexander Tsiskaridze, Prof. Nejat Akalan, Prof. Megemt Tonge, Prof. Fahretin Kelestemur and etc.
An exciting addition to TNS 2022 was the panel discussions. The vice-dean of DTMU, Paata Tsagareishvili participated in the panel discussion: Medical Education and its challenges in Georiga, where he discussed current challenges and their potential solutions.
The symposium also hosted a total of 6 workshops. Workshops gave opportunities for students to get a hands-on experience in the field of their choosing: microsurgery, minimally invasive spinal surgery, EEG, EMG, neuromorphology. AMBOSS also offered a unique workshop as part of their first visit to Georiga.
All medical students were offered an opportunity to present their scientific work on the poster session of the Tbilisi Neurosurgical Symposium. A 6th-year student from DTMU, Navneeta Jayaprasad, successfully presented her paper at TNS2022.
David Tvildiani Medical University was one of the supporters of the symposium. Walter E. Dandy Neurosurgical Society was founded n the United States in 2011. The student clubs operate in over 60 countries and Georgia has joined that number 1.5 years ago.
